Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that begins the process of rescinding or rewriting the Clean Water rule also known as the Waters of the U.S. Natural Resources Defense Council Senior Attorney Jon Devine says WOTUS was science based and without it in place, it will lead to more possibilities of polluted waters.
He says opponents to the rule have charged it’s a federal overreach, but Devine disagrees.
Devine says his group will weigh in on the rulemaking for any replacement rule and will battle any attempts to remove protections for the nation’s waters.
Devine says they’ll fight any attempt to weaken any rewrite of the rule or any attempts at completely repealing it. He says they’ll consider litigation if necessary.
