Natural Resources Conservation Officials are looking at refreshing the most popular conservation program in 2016, the Conservation Stewardship Program. Izaak Walton League’s Conservation Associate John Sisser says his group wants NRCS to make sure the total environmental value of practices is taken into account when refreshing the C-S-P.
He says they want NRCS to provide better access to the C-S-P for smaller and medium sized producers.
Sisser says the C-S-P has great potential for farmers to improve soil health with their practices.
From 2009 to 2014, the Conservation Stewardship Program has helped put conservation practices on almost 70 million acres of agricultural land across the country.
