The Natural Resources Conservation Service in Nebraska has extended the sign up deadline for the Livestock Mortality Program to July first. That program, under EQIP, allows producers to get financial assistance to dispose of dead livestock due to the bomb cyclone flooding. Nebraska NRCS EQIP Manager Conor Ward says it’s the second extension they’ve provided to give producers time to find livestock carcasses and dispose of them.

He says the extension has been provided to allow the waters to recede and the ground to warm up, so producers can find dead livestock.

Ward says interested producers should apply at their county NRCS office.

Ward says they have $2 million available in funding for both the Livestock Mortality Program and the Cover Crop Disaster Assistance Program.
