Many farmers are busy planting this spring or getting ready to and one precaution they need to take is to watch out for power lines when doing that field work. Nebraska Public Power District Supervisor Mark Becker says they’re trying to prevent what happened last year when many entanglements happened., and boom sprayers hit power lines.

He says with farm equipment getting bigger, that can lead to problems with power lines in the fields.

Becker says if a farmer hits a power line make sure they call NPPD or their power provider and let them handle the problem.

Becker says if a power line falls on the equipment or a fire starts, make sure you get out of the equipment.

Becker adds that when setting up farm equipment to be at least 20 feet away from power lines.
