Expanding export opportunities through trade remains a top priority for the National Pork Producers Council. NPPC’s Director of International Affairs Maria Zieba says last week’s signing of the U.S. Japan agricultural bilateral deal means a lot more U.S. pork going into Japan as tariffs are lowered and phased in.

She says they continue to pursue market possibilities with other Southeast Asian countries as they have a large appetite for pork.

Zieba says there are also pork market opportunities with both India and Jamaica.

Zieba says the U.S. pork industry ships more product to the 20 countries covered by free trade agreements than we do the rest of the world combined.
