This week, U.S. Trade Ambassador Michael Froman updated both the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees on progress being made in the Trans Pacific Partnership talks. National Pork Producers Vice President and Counsel for International Affairs Nick Giordano says his group is pleased headway is being made on market access issues with Japan. He also says to get TPP over the finish line, TPA must be granted to the President.
Giordano says while it won’t be easy, Congress must approve TPA so TPP can get approved. He says negotiators are very close to getting TPP completed.
Ambassador Froman told the committees that the TPP could be wrapped up in a small number of months.
