NPPC Supports EPA Court Action on Air Emissions

The Environmental Protection Agency has asked a federal court to stay litigation filed by activists challenging agency guidance that exempts livestock operations from reporting releases of air emissions to local and state emergency officials. National Pork Producer Council’s Assistant Vice President of Domestic Affairs and Counsel Michael Formica says EPA is doing the right thing.

He says activists are claiming in their lawsuit that farm emissions are hazardous, which is incorrect.

Formica says NPPC will be providing comments to the EPA as they develop a rule on air emissions reporting.

Formica says NPPC is also working with the poultry industry and first responders to find out what information is needed need rather than what some activists want.
