U.S. Ambassador to China Max Baucus says he wants to strengthen trade ties between America and the Asian nation. National Pork Producers Vice President and Counsel for International Affairs Nick Giordano says it’s a plus that Baucus is in China and thinks he’ll help the U.S. advance its agricultural trade agenda.
Giordano says China has a great appetite for U.S. pork and can’t produce enough of its own. He also says they’re poised to join future trade agreements that should help open their markets further.
Both Giordano and Baucus note there are still some trade challenges between the U.S. and China but despite those differences there is no choice but to keep talking and work through those tough challenges.
