NPPC President Sees Export Potential With Cuba

The Obama administration has moved to loosen trading restrictions with Cuba. The whole issue has yet to sort itself out in Congress. National Pork Producers Council President Dr. Howard Hill says Cuba has been a bit of a political hot potato but if Congress and the President can agree to further loosening of trade, Cuba would be a great destination for U.S. pork.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker says he plans to hold hearings to examine the President’s decision to ease sanctions on Cuba. Hill says NPPC will monitor those hearings. He says many were caught off guard by the President’s earlier actions.
Earlier this month the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman questioned the effectiveness of the Cuba embargo.
