The National Pork Producers Council is continuing to focus on foreign animal disease preparedness and the fight against anti-livestock agendas in and outside of Washington D.C. in the year ahead. Pipestone, Minnesota producer and newly elected NPPC President Terry Wolters says that is one of the reasons why delegates to the National Pork Forum voted to reduce checkoff funding and increase their Strategic Investment Program support.
He says they’re also targeting high population centers in the U.S. with their message of how they are responsibly raising pork.
Wolters says NPPC is also partnering with the National Pork Board on a task force looking at prevention and preparedness for foreign animal diseases like African Swine Fever.
He says NPPC’s long range strategic plan also supports the building of ag coalitions with the shrinking voice of the ag industry.
