New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has vetoed legislation that would have banned gestation stalls in his state. He called the measure which passed both houses of their legislature misguided and partisan and catering to special interest groups. National Pork Producers Council President Dr. Howard Hill says the reason the legislation came up in the first place was as a stepping stone to getting a federal measure approved.
Hill who’s an Iowa Veterinarian says Governor Christie thought the whole measure was frivolous which helped lead to this decision.
The ban bill passed both houses of the New Jersey legislature after animal activists gathered thousands of signatures and enlisted the help of celebrities Danny DeVito and Bill Maher.
