National Pork Producer Council officials are hailing the possibility of a Free Trade Agreement between the U.S. and the United Kingdom. NPPC’s Dave Warner says President Donald Trump met with British Prime Minister Theresa May over the weekend to set the groundwork for a possible deal.

He says the U.K. Parliament is expected to take action next month on exiting the E.U. which is the next step in the process.

Warner says of the E.U. nations, the United Kingdom is the best customer of U.S. pork.

Warner says it’s positive the Trump administration is moving ahead with possible trade with the U.K. given the fact the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership talks between the U.S. and E.U. were stalled.
