Vietnam has notified USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that it will accept pork offal exports from the United States. National Pork Producers Vice President and International Trade Counsel Nick Giordano says his group worked hard with U.S. and Vietnamese government officials to get them to lift the ban on American pork variety meat exports.

Giordano says Vietnam is an important market for U.S. pork and his group is also working with them as part of the Trans Pacific Partnership discussions. He says they’re trying to achieve elimination of all tariffs and non tariff barriers.

Giordano says Vietnam is second only to Japan as a U.S. pork customer in the Far East.
