The National Pork Producers Council is one of the many agricultural groups opposing the Farmer Fair Practice or GIPSA rules finalized by USDA this week. NPPC President John Weber says their next step is to oppose it on several fronts.

He says they’re disappointed the USDA finalized the GIPSA rules when they did.

Weber says one of the unintended consequences of the GIPSA rule is that it will cause more vertical integration in the pork industry.

Weber says they may have to consider legal action if the rules go forward following the public comment period.
