NPPC Official Says U.S. Pork Producers Hurt By China Trade War

The trade war between China and United States is negatively impacting the nation’s pork industry. Past National Pork Producers Council President Ken Maschhoff who chairs NPPC’s trade committee says the 25-percent Chinese retaliatory tariff on U.S. pork is disrupting sales.

He says while China needs to be corrected over intellectual property rights and other trade issues, it still means economic pain for America’s pork producers.

Maschhoff says it’ll be difficult to find other customers for U.S. pork that was destined to be sold to China.

Maschhoff says pork producers will be expressing their trade concerns to the Administration and members of Congress this week at their annual NPPC Fly-In.
