NPPC Official Says Trade War Resolution Needed Soon Along With Trade Deals

China has responded to the escalation of the trade war put forward by President Trump with his announcement of more tariffs on their products. Friday, China announced it will retaliate against $60 billion worth of American products. National Pork Producer Council’s Director of International Affairs Maria ZIeba doesn’t see a quick resolution to the trade dispute going forward.

She says even though China needs to be held accountable on following World Trade Rules, America’s pork producers are getting hit hard by the tariffs.

Zieba says NPPC is not only hoping for resolution with China but also a finalization of the North American Free Trade Agreement discussions.

Currently the U.S. is engaged with Mexico in trying to find a resolution to the NAFTA talks and will later talk with Canada.
