U-S pork exports have been doing well in the last few years in terms of both volume and value. Although pork producers did see a slight decline in the exports during this past year, overall, pork exports are still higher than five years ago. Scott Hays, a pork producer from Missouri, was recently named as the new National Pork Producers Council president. Hays predicts U-S pork exports will remain good, with some products going to new markets.
The new pork producer’s president says the organization hopes to expand exports into the Pacific nations’ region.
Hays says the NPPC wants the federal government to work on reducing tariffs on U-S pork products destined for overseas.
