A District Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by animal rights and environmental activists against the EPA over the agency’s withdrawal of a proposed Clean Water Rule. That rule would have required livestock and poultry operations to report sensitive information about their operations. NPPC President Elect John Weber says it’s a big win for farmers and ranchers in their ongoing fight to protect private and sensitive personal and financial records.
Weber says even though some information was readily available, the EPA gave out information it shouldn’t have.
Weber hopes this ruling will prevent groups like HSUS from trying to get information on farmers and ranchers so they can harass the individuals who are feeding the world.
District Court Judge Randolph Moss said the EPA’s explanation for the withdrawal was plain and coherent and that it adequately explained the basis for its decision.
