Between 125 and 140 National Pork Producer Council members will be in Washington D.C. September 13 and 14 for their annual Fly In. NPPC’s Dave Warner says one of their top issues is making sure the North American Free Trade Agreement modernization is handled properly and zero tariffs are maintained in the deal.
He says another major priority for their members is asking Congress to fund a foot and mouth disease vaccine bank.
Warner says trade is critical for the pork industry and their members will be letting federal lawmakers know the importance of pursuing good bilateral agreements especially with Japan.
Warner says their members also want Farm Bill authors to make sure ag research and disease surveillance programs are properly funded as well as conservation.
