Implementation of the U.S. Mexico Canada trade agreement known as USMCA is set to go into effect in less than a month on July 1. Recent reports indicate there may be some agricultural issues yet to be worked out between Mexico and the U.S. however over produce concerns. National Pork Producers Council’s Director of International Relations Maria Zieba says however those glitches have been ironed out and the agreement is moving ahead as planned.

She says for pork producers and all of U.S. agriculture, everything is looking like the implementation will sail through with no problems.

Zieba says USMCA is a beneficial deal for all three countries and for U.S. pork producers it will mean an elimination of tariffs and any other trade barrier.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has been visiting with Mexican officials over all seasonal produce concerns.
