NPPC Expecting Tough Battle With EU In TTIP Discussions

With the fourth round of Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership talks concluded, US Trade Representative Michael Froman says there’s still a lot of work ahead. National Pork Producers Vice President and Counsel for International Affairs  Nick Giordano says there are many key issues yet to work out including tariffs and sanitary phyto sanitary issues.

Giordano says not only will it take some time to work out those differences with the E.U., the talks themselves are only in their infancy at this point.

Giordano was referring to the Trans Pacific trade talks between the U..S and 11 countries. Those discussions have been slowed down by Japan’s refusal to remove trade barriers and reduce tariffs.
