The U.S. Supreme Court recently issued a major ruling protecting the confidentiality of business information from activist groups. National Pork Producers Council CEO Neil Dierks says his group sees the decision as very positive because it will protect producer’s confidential information from activist groups who may use the data to harm their operations.

He says they’re in the process of totally examining the ruling.

Dierks says some of the recent FOIA requests have resulted in fishing expeditions by activists seeking to cause damage to agricultural operations.

Dierks says they believe the ruling is a positive one and are reviewing the High Court’s decision. He says anyone having any questions about it should check with their personal attorney.
