National Pork Producer Council members are focused on trade as 2019 ends and hoping to go on offense for more trade deals in 2020. NPPC President David Herring says getting USMCA over the finish line and ratified can’t come soon enough.

NPPC Vice President and Counsel for Global Government Affairs Nick Giordano says looking ahead to next year they hope to aggressively seek trade deals and starting out with both the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Giordano says there’s also great potential for trade in 2020 for the U.S. pork industry in the far east with several countries.

Both Herring and Giordano note the trade wins reached in 2019 with negotiations with Canada and Mexico and the agreed to bilateral deal with Japan.
