The Nebraska Pork Producers Association has thrown its support behind a project to build new ag facilities at Northeast Community College. Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says they’ve pledged $100,000 to NIACC’s campaign because of its great reputation as an agricultural school and because of where it’s located.

He says agriculture is the largest area of study at Northeast with about 350 students every year in 12 programs. Juhnke adds their ag facilities have desperately needed upgrading for quite some time.

Juhnke says because of the rapid growth of the pork industry in Nebraska, more workers are required and NIACC can help with those needs.

The initial phase of construction includes a new farm site with a farm office and storage, a large animal handling facility and other farm structures for livestock operations as well as a new veterinary technology clinic and classrooms.
