In a game that lasted under two hours, with a 20 minute rain delay, top-seeded Northwestern won the the Championship Game of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Baseball Tournament 2-1 over Midland.
Midland went to the scoreboard first in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead. The next scoring wasn’t until the bottom of the sixth when the Raiders tied it up at 1-1. In the middle of the 7th a brief storm cell forced a 20 minute delay, after play resumed Northwestern pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Northwestern had secured the league’s first berth to the NAIA Opening Round by winning the regular season title, while Midland will advance with the league’s second berth.
