The Northwest Iowa Sheep Producers will hold their annual meeting in Sioux Center on Saturday January 12. President Travis Hawkins says the top issues for his group revolve around marketing opportunities for lamb, meat and wool.

He says the featured speaker at the meeting is Rusty Burgett of the National Sheep Improvement Program. Hawkins says some of their producer members take part in that program, which focuses on genetics.

Hawkins says growth of the sheep industry in Iowa has held its own while sheep producer numbers have been dropping across the country.

Hawkins says their organization has about 40 members. The event will be held at Dordt College and you can register at the door.
