A pair of Northern Sun Conference schools announce new football coaches this week.
Northern State University Director of Athletics Josh Moon announced Mike Schmidt as their next head coach. Schmidt is the 30th head coach in program history and only the seventh coach since 1980.
Schmidt joins the Wolves after spending the last four seasons as head coach at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), where he posted a 27-13 record overall.
Wayne State College Director of Athletics Mike Powicki announced that John McMenamin has been named head football coach. McMenamin will be the 22nd head coach in the 103-year history of the Wildcat football program.
McMenamin is a former Wildcat assistant coach who has spent the last five seasons as offensive coordinator at Central Missouri where he turned the Mules into an offensive juggernaut and ranks as one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II.
