Most weather watchers now agree….A La Nina event is underway.
Dennis Todey with the Midwest Climate Hub (in Ames Iowa) says the indications for La Nina conditions have persisted……

A La Nina occurs when Pacific Ocean surface temperatures trend below normal for several months.
Todey says this La Nina is kind of a light weight…..

Todey says a La Nina normally means more cold and snow in the northern plains……

Todey says they expectation is that the La Nina will fade rather quickly next spring.
