Northern Minnesota farmer and cow calf producer is seeking the Presidency of the Minnesota Farm Bureau. Shayne Isane is the Farm Bureau’s Board Director for District 7 and farms in Roseau County near Badger. He says when incumbent President Kevin Paap chose not to run for re-election, he was encouraged to seek the position.
He says national issues his group is concerned with includes increased taxes, elimination of stepped up basis and the need for an infrastructure bill as well as concerns over the rewrite of the Clean Water rule.
Isane says the major concern at the state level is the need for drought relief as that has hit his area quite hard this year making it difficult for livestock producers.
Isane partners with his brother and nephew on their farming operation where they raise around 300 head of cows and calves and grow corn, soybeans, alfalfa, spring wheat and rye grass for seed. He and his wife have two grown children and four grandkids.
