North Dakota Legislature Approves Bill Allowing Electric Hunting Posting

North Dakota Legislature Approves Bill Allowing Electric Hunting Posting

The North Dakota legislature has passed a pair of bills to advance electronic posting of public land. Those measures are now on their way to the Governor for his signature. North Dakota Farm Bureau Public Policy Director Pete Hanebutt says this bill helps protect private property rights while allowing hunters access without landowners having to physically post no hunting signs.

He says both landowners and hunters are already using technology for their everyday business so this legislation makes sense for both.

An amendment added to the measures defines what a fence is. And Hanebutt says that gives better clarification so everyone understands what’s allowed and isn’t allowed.

The bills were amended to make trespassing onto fenced land a Class B misdemeanor and any subsequent offense within two years a Class A misdemeanor.
