Soybean buyers and processors from five southeast Asian countries are in North Dakota this week meeting with farmers and learning about handling and shipping of the product. North Dakota Soybean Council Executive Director Diana Beitelspacher says the visit is a great opportunity to cement relationships with these important soybean customers.
Beitelspacher says the trade team is taking a short course at the Northern Plains Crop Institute showing them the intricacies of buying soybeans and transporting them as well as giving them an overview of the quality of the commodity.
The Southeast Asian trade team will also be touring farms in the Red River Valley in North Dakota and Minnesota. The group is from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
