The 2021 North Dakota legislative session gets underway today and State Farm Bureau officials will be concentrating on property rights issues as one of their main priorities. Pete Hanebutt is Public Policy Director for the North Dakota Farm Bureau.

He says they’ll be monitoring to see what steps state lawmakers take on any measures regarding property taxes.

Hanebutt expects some bills to come up dealing with regulations and his group will be weighing in with lawmakers asking for regulatory reductions.

Hanebutt says he hasn’t heard of any pieces of legislation being pushed by animal rights activists but will be ready to defend production agriculture when and if those arise.
