In an effort to enhance the fight against poverty, South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem has filed a bill that expands the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program. She says her bill would have the rest of the nation follow South Dakota’s lead on this program.
Noem says that her bill will help get more impoverished Americans into the program and on their way to supporting themselves.
She says states would be prevented from counting third party spending in their contribution amounts to the program and would make proposed changes within a three year period.
