While teachers and some health care workers will see a point three percent raise this year, state employees will not. Legislators decided instead to move some dollars to cover expected increases in health insurance costs.
Eric Ollila, Executive Director of the South Dakota State Employees Organization, says the initial proposal from the Governor was cut…..

Ollila says there is still a gap in the insurance costs that will have to be covered…..

Ollila says employees faced a choice between a raise, or covering the insurance costs…..

That insurance gap may be covered at the end of the fiscal year, when some agencies may come back with a surplus.
