The Lincoln County South Dakota planning and zoning Board has turned down permits for five meteorological wind towers Dakota Power Community Wind wanted to put up. The group wanted to gather verifiable data to try and help determine the feasibility of starting a wind project in Lincoln County. Rob Johnson with Dakota Community Wind Power says they needed the extra towers to get the information they needed to help make their decision.

Johnson says his board will meet this week and decide what their next step is.

Dakota Power Community Wind Investors are hoping to build a wind farm that will eventually hook onto the Rock Island Clean line project and run energy to the East Coast.
