No Extra Water Available from Lewis & Clark

As the state pushes for livestock expansion, especially in eastern South Dakota, one limiting factor is water availability. A number of those potential developments are looking at the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System as a possible supplier.

The Lewis & Clark water plant north of Vermillion can produce about forty-five million gallons of water a day. Larson says they do have some expansion capability…..

Larson says the entire project was based on economic development, but through their members…..

The project draws its water from wells near Vermillion. They are about sixty percent complete, and will deliver water to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
