No Change In Water Plant Plans

It now looks more likely that a new Yankton water treatment plant will be built next to the existing plant near the Meridian Bridge.

Director of Environmental Services Kyle Goodmanson told the city commission last night, they had consultants look at three other locations besides the current location.

He says their study shows building right next door is the best option…

Other sites studied included just north of the existing plant, in Paddle Wheel point east of Riverside Park, and in the east side industrial park.

Commissioner David Knoff said he didn’t think the park location was the best spot…

City Manager Amy Nelson said their planning has been centered around the current location…

Commissioners took no formal action to change the planning process. The time line outlined for the plant shows it being ready sometime in 2017.
