No Animal Abuse in Investigation of Iowa State Senator

An investigation by the Mahaska County Sheriff’s office and the State Agriculture Department found no evidence that animals were abused at Iowa State Senator Ken Rozenboom’s pork operation. California based Direct Action Everywhere entered the hog farm last spring and took an undercover video that alleged the abuse. Rozenboom says the group took that action because of his sponsorship of legislation to curtail undercover videos.

He says the charges by Direct Action Everywhere were totally unfounded.

Rozenboom says this won’t deter him from crafting legislation to protect farmers and ranchers from undercover videos and activists’ attacks. He also intends to go after the Direct Action Everywhere group.

Rozenboom says in December he leased the hog building to a different farmer. Veterinary records show the herd was being treated for a respiratory infection that contributed to the problems Direct Action Everywhere documented.
