The National Milk Producers Federation is urging dairy farmers to sign up for the Market Facilitation Program and the Dairy Margin Coverage Program. Senior Vice President of Membership Services and Strategic Initiatives Chris Galen says today is the deadline to enroll in MFP at county Farm Service Agency offices.

He says the deadline to sign up under the Dairy Margin Coverage Program is Friday December 13. Galen says in 2019, more than 23,000 dairy producers enrolled in DMC and were payed out over $300 million. He says that was due to lower margins, which have since risen.

Galen says DMC has more benefits for small and medium sized dairy operators but is still valuable for larger operations.

Galen says larger dairy operators can also get assistance from the Livestock Gross Margin Program or the new Dairy Revenue Protection Program, which are offered privately.
