The Senate is scheduled to markup their 2018 farm bill today. National Milk Producers Federations Chris Galen says Ag Committee members came together with a bipartisan measure that could be considered by the full Senate in just a few weeks.
He says while the Senate is moving forward, the House has been bogged down since their first attempt at passing a farm bill failed.
Galen is hoping House Senate conferees will be able to come together later this summer and get a farm bill approved before an extension would be needed the end of September.
The House is expected to bring their farm bill up again for a vote on or around June 22.
