National Milk Producer Federation members are focusing on several priorities as they round out 2017 and turn their focus to the new year. The Federation’s Chris Galen says they want a stronger risk management program in the new farm bill, immigration reform and a successful conclusion to trade negotiations.
He says any move to withdraw from NAFTA will hurt the U.S dairy industry.
Galen says while it’s important not to exit NAFTA, the Canadian dairy pricing system problem needs to be corrected.
Galen says they’re also working on a bill to allow only real dairy beverages to be labeled as milk and not plant-based alternatives.
