The U.S. Dairy industry is dealing with some trade challenges on the export front. One has to do with having enough shipping containers to get goods out to markets at a reasonable cost. Shawna Morris is Senior Vice President of Trade Policy for the National Milk Producers Federation.

She says another trade problem is the European Union’s use of Geographical Indicators they’re putting up as a non-tariff barrier.

Morris says now that GI problem has increased in size with some other countries using that as well.

Morris says besides dealing with these challenges, NMPF is also working to establish new markets focusing on Southeast Asian nations.
