Nitrogen stabilizers from Dow AgroSciences not only help improve yield for farmers, they have also received the U.S. EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award. U.S. Marketing Leader Jason Moulin says their nitrogen stabilizers work on commercial fertilizers like UAN and Urea, plus liquid manure, to inhibit nitrification in corn and wheat.
Moulin says the stabilizers work in the soil to decrease nitrogen and leaching.
And he says this translates into higher yields for corn and soybean farmers because there is more nitrogen available for crops to use.
The technology has a positive impact on the environment. It keeps nitrogen fertilizers available in the root zone of crops, which reduces the amount of nitrates that escape into the water and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
