The National Grain and Feed Association wants Congress to approve a highway bill that includes extension of the Positive Train Control Regulation. Association President Randy Gordon says without that extension the rail roads have said there will be disruption and delay of service. He’s hoping the highway bill that passed out of the House Committee late last week containing that extension gets approved.
Gordon says Congress is facing a deadline this week with the transportation reauthorization expiring October 29. He says what’s likely to occur is some type of short term extension.
Gordon says what’s concerning is opposition to a short term highway bill fix coming from two U.S. Senators.
Positive Train Control is a safety system to monitor and control train movements that was enacted in 2008 by Congress.
