National Grain and Feed Association members are hoping for filling of commission positions at the CFTC by sometime this fall. NGFA Senior Vice President of Marketing Todd Kemp says they’re hoping to see those jobs filled by people either with an ag background or an understanding of agriculture.

He’s also confident the other two commission posts will have people that understand agriculture.

Kemp says they’re expecting quick confirmation of acting CFTC Commissioner Chris Giancarlo who’s pledging robust enforcement of rules governing derivatives and commodities and wants to protect producer hedging.

Kemp says it’s positive that Giancarlo while wanting strong enforcement of derivatives and commodities also wants to take a common sense approach to the work of the CFTC and is committed to protecting ag producers.
