Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Tim Massad has announced he’s stepping down when President-elect Donald Trump takes office later this month. National Grain and Feed Association President Randy Gordon says he’s been positive for agriculture interests while heading up the CFTC.
He says Massad’s likely replacement is Christopher Giancarlo, the lone Republican member of the CFTC.
Gordon says the main concern about the agency is there needs to be new Commissioners appointed who understand agriculture.
Gordon says while it’s been an extensive process educating new Commissioners, they’ve been open to learning more about agriculture.
