The National Grain and Feed Association is pleased the Surface Transportation Board is moving ahead with a rule making process regarding rail rate reviews. NGFA President Randy Gordon says the STB is attempting to try and develop a more streamlined and cost effective method for all shippers to be able to challenge rail rates.

He says the STB is also taking positive steps to streamline the rail rate review procedures.

Gordon says the STB understands the problems shippers are facing especially with the steady increase in rail rates that have occurred in the past two years.

Opening comments on the STB’s notice of proposed rulemaking are due November 14, with reply comments due December 19.
