Action on a pair of agricultural regulatory issues up before the Surface Transportation Board are being delayed. National Grain and Feed Association President Randy Gordon says that’s because three positions are open on the 5 member Surface Transportation Board that need to be filled. He says one regulation that needs updating involves railroad competitive switching.

He says that regulation needs updating so products can be shipped more efficiently and effectively.

Gordon says the other regulation being held up involves improving the procedure to challenge rail rates.

Gordon says there are two Republicans being vetted by the White House and interviewed for nomination to the STB. Another STB position needs to be filled however with a Democrat and the Senate is waiting to consider all three before moving forward.
