The National Farmers Union for the first time ever will be holding its FLY IN as a virtual event due to the pandemic. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says they’ll hold the virtual Fly In the week of September 14. He says there are four primary issue they’ll be focusing on as they visit with members of Congress and other federal officials.

He says because their members won’t be making in person on hill visits, it’ll be a bit challenging but they’re looking forward to the event and have more participants than they’ve ever had.

Hansen says as far as markets go they’ve been working to get more medium and small sized processor operating to keep the food supply chain moving efficiently and effectively during the pandemic.

Hansen says NFU’s Board of Directors along with their legislative committee and the NFU staff all worked together to gather input from the various state farmers union groups in order to put their 4 priority measures together.
