President Obama’s 2017 budget will invest $ 12 billion over ten years to reduce child hunger during the summer through a permanent program. National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson says his group backs the move. He says several experts gathered at the White House this week to talk about the problem of child hunger in America.
He says that gets compounded and creates even costlier problems.
Johnson says all of this lead to making sure the young people are fed all year round.
The Administration says during the academic year, school meals help feed nearly 22 million low income children who receive free and reduced price school meals.
